A Coaches and Parents Guide to Advancing the Skills of Youth Sports Participants
Item #015

Athletes are performing at increasingly higher levels at younger ages. Because of this, it is imperative that young athletes learn proper movement skills as a basic fundamental or they will eventually get left behind, regardless of their natural talent or hard work. In over 30 years of Coaching and Teaching, I have come to the conclusion that there are only 3 positive behavioral outcomes that prepubescent athletes obtain from sports participation:

1. To understand HOW their body works
2. To learn sports Technique and Movement Skills
3. To LOVE to play

While all 3 of these outcomes are extremely important to the positive experience of children in sports, it is the learning of technique and movement skills that most parents count on schools and local sports programs to produce. Since schools are discarding PE and youth sports programs, this book is designed to help an interested parent or coach get a let up on the competition and to help their young athletes achieve their maximum potential.
